In 2022, Shannon School came alive with colour as our students worked alongside mural artist Wendy Hodder to create a series of stunning murals.
The ideas came straight from our tamariki — celebrating Shannon’s history, landmarks, and the natural world around us. From huia feathers and harakeke to local buildings and native birds, each design tells part of our story. Every student picked up a brush, so the murals truly belong to our whole school whānau.
Now they brighten our spaces every day, reminding us of who we are, where we come from, and the pride we share in our community.
The accompanying descriptions for the murals have been written by our tamariki.
