Parent Support Group

Picture
Picture
At this time we do not have an official Parent Teacher Association or Home and School group but we do have a number of volunteers who help in various ways.

If you are interested in helping teachers in the classroom the most effective way is to ask individual teachers if they would like any help e.g. listening to children read, assisting with preparing resources, working with a small group of children.

We are always requesting for help for visits out of the school e.g. for transport, supervision

We have parents, carers and  community members who assist in the following:   (please contact the school office if interested)
  • preparing and supervising the distribution of lunches one day a week
  • working with a small group of children in the school gardens
  • supervising  the Breakfast in School programme
  • reading with children in the Junior Hub.

Assistance

We welcome parents and community members sharing skills and programmes with us.  If you have a particular interest we would love to hear from you with your ideas.  We strongly believe in a holistic approach to learning and appreciate assistance from experts and people with interests they would like to share.  Some ideas of working with several children:
  • cooking
  • Māori art and craft, te reo
  • knitting, sewing, needlecraft
  • woodwork, technology
  • writing - e.g. poetry
  • horticulture, gardening, growing
  • sharing your career knowledge
  • the Arts - music, drama, dance, art, photography
  • foreign language
  • fundraising
